Safer Spaces Policy
The Midwest Queer & Trans Zine Fest is organized to create and maintain a space that is for the entire zine community, centering and celebrating queer and trans independent publishing. We aim to foster an environment that is welcoming and free of oppressive actions, behaviors, and language. We encourage and welcome communication about the Midwest QT Zine Fest in good faith.
We do not support transphobia, homophobia, sexism, racism, ageism, ableism, religious discrimination, classism, or anti-LGBTQ beliefs.
This includes zine content and actions, whether in person at the zine fest or on our social media account. We reserve the right to remove comments containing personal attacks or block accounts responsible for attacks. At the zine fest, we reserve the right to ask attendees and vendors who do not abide by our safe spaces policy to leave.
Sexual harassment, inappropriate/unwelcome comments and behaviors are not acceptable at the Midwest QT Zine Fest, as well as disruptive or disrespectful behavior that might cause a participant, attendee, or Midwest QT Zine Fest Organizer to feel distressed.
The Midwest QT Zine Fest aims to thoughtfully resolve any conflict that might arise at any Midwest QT Zine Fest events or in communication leading up to Zine Fest. We try our best to keep this event fun, inclusive, welcoming and we appreciate your willingness to support each other. Please let us know right away if there is something we can assist you with.
