MQTZF
Safer Spaces
Policy

The Midwest Queer + Trans Zine Fest and Conference (MQTZF) exists to celebrate queer and trans independent publishing in the Midwest.

MQTZF is coordinated by the MQTZF Organizing Team whose purpose is to foster an environment that is welcome to all and free of anti-liberatory actions, behaviors, and language. Additionally, this is a mask required event for the accessibility of all vendors and attendees.

The Organizing Team works to organize, promote, and sustain an environment free from transphobia, homophobia, sexism, racism, ageism, ableism, religious discrimination, classism, xenophobia, or other anti-liberatory rhetoric or behaviors which seek to demean any given individual or population.

Harassment — including, but not limited to unsolicited interpersonal advances, contact, or remarks — is not acceptable in any MQTZF events or spaces.

The MQTZF Organizing Team aims to thoughtfully resolve any conflict that might arise at any MQTZF events or space. We try our best to keep this event fun, inclusive, welcoming and we appreciate your willingness to support each other. Please let us know as soon as you are able if there is something we can assist you with or if there is anything you believe requires our attention.

Those in violation of the Safer Spaces Policy will be asked to amend their behavior in order to reduce additional harm. Should the violating party refuse, they will be asked by the MQTZF Organizing team to “exit” the event/space (whether online or in-person) until violations can be addressed and remedied in the best interest of the MQTZF community.

Given the pervasive nature of online spaces, those in violation of the Safer Spaces Policy in online spaces hosted and moderated by the MQTZF Organizing Team, will be blocked from interaction in these spaces until violations can be addressed and remedied in the best interest of the MQTZF community.

Additionally, the MQTZF Organizing Team welcomes constructive, written feedback regarding the Midwest Queer + Trans Zine Fest and Conference and its associated programming, either in-person post-event, or online via the form on our site. Our Safer Spaces Policy is not a guarantee of a perfect space; it's a commitment towards a safer one.

Please email us if you would like to start a conversation.

Thank you for keeping MQTZF a welcoming and fun space!
